Psalms 139:14 “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” – Psalm 139:14 (NIV)

Story:

I once met a young woman whose shoulders carried more than her years. She told me she believed she could never get ahead because of the color of her skin — that people would always look at her differently, speak to her differently, and expect less from her. Her words were heavy with the sting of injustice, but as I listened, I began to wonder if what she saw as racism was actually the weight of her upbringing. The voices she had heard growing up — in her home, in her neighborhood — had convinced her she would always be “less than.” They told her she wouldn’t be helped, that life wouldn’t be fair, and that trying wouldn’t change anything. She had begun to wear those words like a name tag, forgetting that the One who knit her together in her mother’s womb had already spoken a better name over her. The issue wasn’t only what others thought — it was what she had come to believe about herself.

Supporting Scriptures:

1. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” – Jeremiah 1:5 2. “So God created mankind in his own image… male and female he created them.” – Genesis 1:27 3. “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” – Isaiah 49:16

Prayer:

Lord, remind us that our worth is not defined by what the world says, but by what You say. Where we have taken in the lies of others, replace them with the truth of Your Word. Let us live as people who know they are fearfully and wonderfully made, set apart for Your purposes, and held in the palm of Your hand. Amen.
